StartUP Sault Ste. Marie is looking for two passionate, entrepreneurial volunteer Board Members to join our team!
About the Opportunity:
StartUP Sault is a volunteer-led non-profit organization. We are looking for engaged board members to help us level-up. Board members are expected to dedicate up to five hours/month for attending board of director or committee meetings, planning and attending monthly events, and/or other duties to support our community of entrepreneurs.
In 2022, our board is going to be leveling-up, reviving our working committees, and collaboratively developing a new organizational growth strategy.
Specific skills/experience that would be an asset at this time include social media/digital marketing, finance, graphic design and event planning among others.

Board members will be expected to participate on at least one board committee to help move StartUP Sault forward. The following committees are available:
- Marketing and Events Committee
- Finance Committee
- Partnership/Fundraising Committee
- Membership Committee
During their tenure, board members may also have opportunities to take on additional board director roles such as:
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Vice President
- President

- An entrepreneur or have owned your own business
- Have experience supporting entrepreneurs
- Passionate about entrepreneurship and growing the startup ecosystem
- A doer interested in joining a dynamic, hands-on team to create change

A bit of Background:
StartUP Sault began in 2013 as a grassroots group of passionate entrepreneurs who wanted to build a supportive community for entrepreneurs in Sault Ste. Marie. We are part of a larger national startup community program under Startup Canada (www.startupcan.ca), giving us the opportunity to make connections across the country, share best practices, access funding programs, and raise the profile of our local startups. StartUP Sault incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2019, with a volunteer board of directors.
We have hosted more 90 events and activities for entrepreneurs and strive to offer events and meetups monthly. Some examples include Startup Drinks, Startup Talks, bootcamps and learning opportunities, mentorship circles, pitch contests and much more. Due to COVID-19, in-person activities have been scaled back, but we hope to return to in-person events and meetups in 2022.
